30 Day Movie Challenge: Day #30

Day 30. Last Movie You Watched

I’m so sad to say that this is the last day of my movie challenge. I’ve enjoyed doing this challenge so much…maybe I’ll find another challenge to do in a few months or so. Let me know if you have any suggestions. My thoughts are maybe a tv or photo challenge. Anyway here’s the last day of the movie challenge!

  • Butter (2012)–In small-town Iowa, an adopted girl discovers her talent for butter carving and finds herself pitted against an ambitious local woman in their town’s annual contest. Starring Jennifer Garner, Olivia Wilde, Hugh Jackman, Ashley Greene, Alicia Silverstone, Ty Burrell, Rob Corddry and Yara Shahidi. Yes this movie is all about butter sculpting but I loved it! There is such an emphasis on the characters and their relationships that make this story so touching. They are crazy yet so endearing. The cast is wonderful! Definitely recommending this movie!

  • Now and Then (1995)–Four 12-year-old girls grow up together during an eventful small-town summer in 1970. Starring Christina Ricci, Rosie O’Donnell, Gaby Hoffmann, Demi Moore, Thora Birch, Melanie Griffith, Ashleigh Aston Moore and Rita Wilson. This is one of my all-time favorites and it didn’t really fit into any of the other categories so I figured I would watch it and mention it here. It’s a great coming of age story with all the fun and weirdness of being a kid/preteen.

  • Gone Baby Gone (2007)–Two Boston area detectives investigate a little girl’s kidnapping, which ultimately turns into a crisis both professionally and personality. Based on the Dennis Lehane novel. Written and directed by Ben Affleck. Starring Casey Affleck, Michelle Monaghan, Morgan Freeman, Ed Harris and Amy Ryan. I’ve seen this movie a handful of times but it was the 99 cent rental on iTunes so i figured I would watch it again. I really love Ben Affleck behind the camera! He did a wonderful job with this film as well as The Town. I’ve also heard great things about Argo. I can’t wait to see it.

  • Save the Date (2012)–Sarah begins to confront her shortcomings after she rejects her boyfriend’s hasty proposal and soon finds herself in a rebound romance. Meanwhile, her sister Beth is immersed in the details of her wedding. Starring Lizzy Caplan, Alison Brie, Martin Starr, Mark Webber and Geoffrey Arend. My girl crush right now is Lizzy Caplan and I just love everything that she does. This movie moves slowly but it’s an interesting look into a woman’s resistance to relationships.

  • Riding in Cars With Boys (2001)–A single mother, with dreams of becoming a writer, has a son at the age of 15 in 1965, and goes through a failed marriage with the drug-addicted father. Starring Drew Barrymore, Steve Zahn, Brittany Murphy, James Wood and Lorraine Bracco. This is another favorite of mine that I sometimes forget about because it is pretty sad. I love Drew Barrymore and I think this is one the best roles she’s ever played.

What was the last movie you watched??

30 Day Movie Challenge: Day #13

Day 13. Favorite Chick Flick

A good chick flick has the ability to make any bad day better. Yeah there are a lot of bad ones out there, but it doesn’t make them any less entertaining.

  • How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (2003)–Benjamin Barry is an advertising executive and ladies’ man who, to win a big campaign, bets that he can make a woman fall in love with him in 10 days. Andie Anderson covers the “How To” beat for “Composure” magazine and is assigned to write an article on “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.” They meet in a bar shortly after the bet is made. Starring Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey. Seriously these two make such an adorable couple! And that stunning yellow dress! Perfect for a girls night in!

  • Clueless (1995)–A US West Coast teen lifestyle parody centered around Cher, a popular high school girl who spends her days playing match-maker, helping her friends with fashion choices, and looking for a boyfriend. Starring Alicia Silverstone, Stacey Dash, Brittany Murphy and Paul Rudd. Quintessential chick flick! Cher is a total girl’s girl! I don’t know any girl who wouldn’t want her fabulous closet/clothing program.

  • The First Wives Club (1996)–Reunited by the death of a college friend, three divorced women seek revenge on the husbands who left them for younger women. Starring Goldie Hawn, Bette Midler and Diane Keaton. A real girl power movie! These three are amazing and incredibly funny! There are rumors that there will be a sequel and I really hope that that is true!

  • Bring It On (2000)–A champion high school cheerleading squad discovers its previous captain stole all their best routines from an inner-city school and must scramble to compete at this year’s championships. Starring Kirsten Dunst, Eliza Dushku and Jesse Bradford. Brrrr it’s cold in here, there must be some Torros in the atmosphere! I can do all the cheers in this movie by heart! And everybody knows about jazz fingers!!

  • Easy A (2010)–A clean-cut high school student relies on the school’s rumor mill to advance her social and financial standing. Starring Emma Stone, Amanda Bynes, Penn Badgley, Dan Byrd, Thomas Haden Church, Patricia Clarkson, Cam Gigandet, Lisa Kudrow, Aly Michalka and Stanley Tucci. This modern version of the best 80’s movies is witty and hilarious! The banter between Olive and her parents is the highlight of the movie! I wish I could be half as clever as Olive is. And the scene with the card–it’s so simple yet one of the funniest things I’ve seen in a while!!

What’s your favorite chick flick??
