The Gratitude of Lacking Nothing

This week’s item is actually a gift that I received for Christmas from my mom. It’s called the Gratitude of Lacking Nothing necklace and is a mixed-metal necklace with two charms. The silver charm is a yin & yang (the interconnected symbol of balance and harmony). The 24k gold vermeil charm represents a Zen circle (the symbol for enlightenment and the wholeness of the universe). All together the necklace means to be one with a universe of abundance–you are never alone. The quote by Lao Tzu sums everything up perfectly, “when you realize there is nothing lacking, the whole world belongs to you.” The artist Mary Steratore has a variety of necklaces that mean all sorts of things. Besides the wonderful meaning of the necklace, I love how simple it is. It’s great to wear everyday. I do have to warn you that the necklace is an odd length but that’s one of the things I love about it. It’s long but not too long.

So this week’s items are my two favorite makeup products right now. First is the Yves Saint Laurent Eyeliner Effect Faux Cils Shocking in black. I bought this at Sephora a few months ago and I wear it almost everyday. It’s a nice felt tip that makes it really easy to apply and goes on rather thick all at once. The other is Maybelline Volum’ Express the Falsies Flared Mascara in blackest black. I bought this at Target but it is available in really any drugstore where makeup is sold. I’ve had a really hard time finding a good mascara and have tried a huge range of different brands at all prices and nothing has worked as well as this one! I do have to say that the only bad thing about this mascara is that it has an odd smell. I can only smell it when I’m applying it but it’s not like I smell it all day. I would highly recommend these two products to anyone. Let me know what your favorite makeup products are.

This week’s fashion item is probably one of the best purchases I’ve made in a long time! This is the Wildfox ‘Living in New York’ Sweatshirt that I bought at Nordstrom. It is so incredibly comfy and soft! I’ve already told you how much I’m in love with the color mint green right now so that’s another thing this sweatshirt has going for it! Now that it is finally getting cold enough in SoCal to actually want to wear a sweatshirt, this is perfect! It’s light enough to keep you just the right amount warm. The only bad thing about it is that it makes me miss being in New York City even more than I already do! Well only a little more than a month until I get to go back!! Starting the countdown now!

Today’s fashion item are my favorite shoes right now! They are the Cole Haan Sloane EVA Loafers. I’ve said before how much I love Cole Haan shoes because they are so freaking comfortable! They have the Nike Air soles which give the balls of your feet so much more padding. The leather of the rest of the shoe is really soft! I’m loving the two colors of the shoes. I have the black and blue ones but they come in a bunch of other colors too! I love the metallic and teal ones…I may just have to get another pair.

This week’s fashion item is my favorite dress of the moment. This is the Kirna Zabete for Target Zip Front Sleeveless Tweed/Faux Leather Dress. It’s still being sold in the stores and as of right now it’s on sale online for $31.48. Anyway, I’m obsessed with this look for fall! I’ve never really been a big fan of tweed but for some reason I am loving the texture of the fabric. That along with the cool accents of faux leather, bring a rather simple dress to cool and edgy. I’m still trying to figure out what to wear it with but I’ve seen some pretty fun outfits put together with this dress online. It’s still pretty warm here in SoCal so I may have to wait a little while longer to really wear this. Good thing I’m off to Boston for a quick weekend trip soon!!

Ok so I legit just got my new earrings in the mail yesterday so today was the first chance I got to wear them! I’ve had them on my mind for quite a while though and have already paired them with multiple outfits before they finally arrived. The earrings come in three separate pieces for each earring: the single claw, the 3 claws and the backing. I bought them for around $10 (including shipping) and they are so worth it! Right now they seem to be sold out on etsy but I bought them from this shop called LeVonne.  I know that I searched them at one point but they were all sold out but then they put more up so I’m not sure, they may become available again. A little warning though…it does take a while for them to ship because they are coming from Singapore. I’m seriously obsessed with them though and can’t wait to wear them more often!!

The Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Repair Masque is by far the best thing that I have ever bought for my hair. I have really frizzy/curly hair and I straighten it almost everyday so I end up with extremely damaged hair. This is the first product that has been able to help my hair with immediate results. I haven’t been using this for too long but already I can feel my hair has more moisture and just seems way healthier. I do have fine hair and from the other reviews that I’ve read I can say that it weighs down your hair but I haven’t had too much trouble with this…I just don’t put it on my roots like I put it on the rest of my hair. This deep repair masque is supposed to be used 1-2 times a week (you leave it on your hair for about 7 minutes). Because it is oily, I wouldn’t use it more frequently than recommended but it smells so good that I wish it could be used everyday. This is the best product that I bought in a long time! I would recommend this to anyone but the only thing is it is kinda pricey ($35). They do have a trial portion for $5 so if you are interested but want to try it first, I would buy this.

I so wish that it was a little cooler here to wear these more often but nonetheless, right now I am absolutely LOVING my new Cole Haan Cassidy Booties. I bought them in the color Sequoia but they have six other colors to choose from. I’m obsessed with Cole Haan shoes in general (I bought three other pairs of shoes when I bought these) because they are good sturdy shoes that are cute and comfortable. Totally worth the money!! The heel on these boots are the perfect height at 2.75″ which make me feel more like a normal height! Haha. But the best thing about Cole Haan shoes  is that they all have Nike AIR technology so that you have nice padding for the balls of your feet.

So now that it’s fall, it’s sweater time! (Although not really here in California just yet but I like to pretend.) This week’s fashion item is my gray and mint green striped boyfriend cashmere cardigan from J.Crew. Although I can’t find this particular one on the website, they have a couple on sale and a couple more coming soon here and here. It’s incredibly soft and comfy especially since it has a baggy, relaxed fit. The major reason that I actually love this sweater is the colors. I’ve been loving anything and everything mint green! The past three months, I’ve been wearing Essie’s Mint Candy Apple nail polish almost everyday. I also have a big mint green ring from H&M that I love and a mint green bangle from J.Crew. I just love it all!!

This week’s fashion item is my favorite shirt at the moment. It is the Chambray & Lace Buttondown from Anthropologie. Lately I have been loving the chambray look but I love this shirt because the lace dresses up the shirt for a more feminine look. Plus it is such a light denim (and such an incredibly soft denim) that I don’t have a hard time wearing them with a pair of dark or black jeans for a night out or a pair of bright colored jeans for a fun day look. I gotta say that I’m actually loving the jean on jean thing going on. It’s simple and classy.
